At the Smoothie King Center, the Pelicans scored a franchise-record 86 points in the paint to overpower the Blazers, who were limited to just 10 available players due to injuries. Sidy Cissoko led Portland with 20 points, while Shaedon Sharpe and other teammates added 16 points.
Interim head coach James Borrego highlighted Jordan Poole’s contribution, describing him as “a massive offensive weapon,” as per NOLA. Six Pelicans, including rookies Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen, scored 15 or more points in the win. Herb Jones was ejected after receiving two technical fouls, but the team maintained its momentum.
Portland Trail Blazers acting coach Tiago Splitter expressed concern over the number of players sidelined by injuries. The team was missing its usual centers and three point guards. Trey Murphy III led the Pelicans with 24 points, while Bryce McGowens tied his career-high with 23 points, making all five of his 3-point attempts. The bench outscored Portland 64-45, helping secure the win.
