A new Mexico City style restaurant and bar, Equal Parts, is about to move into the historic Old Spaghetti Factory space at 478 Green Street in North Beach, with opening night set for next Wednesday. The project comes from restaurateurs Victor Pichardo and Jacob Cortes along with investor Richard Yu, and they have tapped chef Melissa Perfit, known locally for her seafood work, to run the kitchen. The team has reworked the dining rooms and the plant filled back patio into a bright, indoor-outdoor setup with nods to Tulum and Mexico City.
Seafood-forward menu and bold cocktails
Perfit's menu centers on shareable, seafood focused California dishes such as a green tomatillo cioppino, seared octopus with fried potatoes, and a roasted whole branzino finished in brown butter, alongside heavier plates like braised pork shank and slow roasted lamb ribs. The drinks program leans into tequila and mezcal infusions and includes cocktails like a brown butter bourbon called On the Road and a jalapeño habanero mezcal, and Equal Parts is set to debut next Wednesday, according to Eater San Francisco.
Design and local booking
Designer Sean Carino helped rework the interior and back patio into a lush, arch lined setting that favors natural textures and plenty of plants. The restaurant's site lists the address and contact information and invites locals to join a VIP list, per the Equal Parts website.
Who’s behind Equal Parts
Equal Parts is the brainchild of Victor Pichardo and Jacob Cortes, both previously connected to Hazie's, with entrepreneur Richard Yu at the investor table. State business filings list Equal Parts SF LLC with 478 Green Street as the principal address, per Bizprofile. Chef Melissa Perfit brings a deep local seafood résumé, having been an early force at Bar Crudo and later running Popi's Oysterette, according to Resy.
A familiar stage for North Beach
The building at 478 Green is San Francisco Designated Landmark No. 127 and has long been tied to the neighborhood's beatnik era and cabaret history, per NoeHill. Pichardo told Eater San Francisco that they hope to bring some of that vibrant energy back while giving locals a late night bar and a comfortable dining spot.
