
A violent incident shattered the early morning calm in Chicago's River North neighborhood on Sunday when four individuals were shot, one of whom later succumbed to their injuries. According to NBC Chicago, the attack occurred near North LaSalle and Hubbard, around 2:35 a.m. where assailants ambushed a group of men entering their vehicle.
Police reports indicate that four armed suspects approached on foot, and without hesitation, opened fire. After the attack, the gunmen fled in a vehicle, evading immediate capture by the authorities. In the chaos that ensued; a 34-year-old man was critically wounded by multiple gunshots and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The condition of the remaining victims is dire. As described by Fox 32 Chicago, a 36-year-old man is battling life-threatening injuries after being shot in the chest, a 43-year-old man is contending with a gunshot to the back, and another 35-year-old man is in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. All three men are currently receiving care at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Investigators are actively seeking leads, however, no suspects have been detained in connection to this tragic event. Details about the perpetrators and their escape vehicle remain vague. Meanwhile, local law enforcement and area detectives continue their investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward, in a concerted effort to deliver justice to the victims and their families.
