Placer County is experiencing flooding along the South Yuba River. One residence has been evacuated, and an evacuation warning is in effect between Donner Pass Road and Cisco Road. As of 10:00 a.m. on Monday, water levels remain steady. Light to moderate rain is expected today, with heavier rain returning Tuesday evening. According to the Placer County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, "From Christmas Eve through the day after Christmas, significant mountain travel impacts are anticipated," and residents are advised "to stay alert, monitor official updates, and be prepared should conditions change."
Earlier flooding near Cisco Grove led the Placer County Sheriff’s Office to evacuate nine people from one home, with others in the area placed on alert. "With several more days of rain and wind anticipated the Placer County Sheriff’s Office is actively coordinating with our public safety partners to ensure we are ready to respond in the coming days," they said, as reported by Hoodline.
Resources like snowcats, snowmobiles, and dive teams have been strategically positioned, and sandbags are available at Fire Station 180 in North Auburn and School Park Preserve in Auburn. The public is advised, "We encourage everyone to stay informed, drive cautiously in wet conditions, and report hazardous situations," as detailed by Hoodline.
