
After weeks of investigation following an October shooting incident in Portland, police have apprehended 51-year-old Michael D. Collins, reportedly linked to the case where a male victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. According to the Portland Police Bureau, the suspect was taken into custody after a search warrant was conducted at his residence with a firearm also being seized during the arrest.
The shooting occurred early in the morning on October 10, near Southeast 127th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street, and fortunately, the victim's injuries were classified as serious but not life-threatening with prompt hospitalization following the event, the suspect had managed to evade immediate capture, triggering a thorough follow-up investigation by the Enhanced Community Safety Team. Portland police, with the tactical support of the Special Emergency Reaction Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team, executed the decisive operation on December 17 to secure Collins and unearth key evidence including the weapon.
Charges against Collins are extensive, encompassing attempted murder and assault in varying degrees alongside counts of unlawful possession and use of a firearm, reflecting the gravity of the allegations as he now faces the legal repercussions of his supposed actions his detainment occurring within the parameters of the Multnomah County Detention Center.
