
North Miami fire crews responded to a 1-alarm apartment fire on the 11600 block of Northeast 18th Drive Friday evening. Flames reportedly coming from the roof prompted firefighters to tear open parts of the roof for ventilation.
According to the WSVN, the fire prompted evacuations as flames quickly engulfed the residence. "From corner of the building caught fire and then within under two minutes, the whole building was under smoke. We don’t know where it started but it spread really quickly," said Julie Avalos, a resident. People had to act fast to protect their pets, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Red Cross assisted those affected.
