A Rockland man has been arrested and charged in connection with a recent fatal shooting, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Rockland Police Chief Nicholas P. Zeoli announced via social media. The accused, 34-year-old Kevin Denis, was apprehended following a coordinated effort by local and state police forces.
Law enforcement officers were able to successfully locate and take Denis into custody after obtaining an arrest warrant. The arrest was executed at an address on Carl Avenue in Brockton, where Denis was found and subsequently transported to the Rockland Police Department for booking. The operation included members of the Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, as reported on the Rockland Ma Police Department's Facebook page.
The investigation stemmed from a 911 call placed to Rockland Police last Thursday evening. The caller reported gunshots near 75 Deering Square. Responders arriving on the scene discovered a 29-year-old male victim inside a parked vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Transported to South Shore Hospital, the victim, identified as Darnel Andre of Rockland, was pronounced dead.
After initial reports of the incident, Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, in affiliation with the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, initiated an investigation. Descriptions from witnesses, including those who supposedly noted a thin male fleeing in dark clothing from the area, were key in progressing the case. State Police also employed aerial support from drones and the MSP Airwing to conduct a thorough search. Through this comprehensive investigation, State Police developed the probable cause required to charge Denis and seek his arrest. Denis is scheduled for an arraignment on a charge of murder in the upcoming week at Hingham District Court. The Massachusetts State Police and Rockland Police have worked in conjunction throughout this case.
