A pedestrian fatality on US Highway 54 has caught the attention of El Paso's Special Traffic Investigations unit. According to the City of El Paso, a recent press release, Miguel Eduardo Rodriguez became the latest traffic casualty under grim circumstances. Rodriguez, after pulling over his vehicle near Gateway North, stepped out and walked towards the shoulder of US Hwy 54 North close to Ellerthorpe. It was there that an unknown driver struck him and subsequently fled from the scene without a trace.
Emergency services transported Rodriguez to the hospital following the incident, yet despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Investigators now hunt for the missing vehicle, which is believed to sport damage to the front right corner.
