In a move that aims to reflect the dynamism of its community, the Snellville Senior Center has rebranded itself as the Active Adult Center. This change falls in line with the eligibility criteria already set by the center, which welcomes individuals 50 years and older to become members and take part in its various programs. "Our original building funding grant required that the building be labeled as the Snellville Senior Center," explained Lisa A. Platt, Director of Parks and Recreation, in a statement provided by the city's official website

While the facility's name has been updated, the programs offered remain the same. These include 20 assorted programs and classes, and a range of day to overnight trips. The Active Adult Center also hosts five regular groups and six special events throughout the year. "We believe that, by making this change, it will help those who are in their 50s and 60s to know that our programs and events are designed for them as well,” said Kathi Gargiulo, Active Adult Center Supervisor. Membership figures stand at 811, a testament to the center's appeal within the community.

Membership fees for the Active Adult Center vary based on residency. Snellville city residents pay $20 while county and non-city residents are charged $35. Those living outside the county have a fee set at $45, with a $5 discount available for additional household members. Open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the center encourages prospective members to reach out for more information or visit their website for further details.

As per the website, those interested in what the Active Adult Center has to offer, or looking to join, can get in touch by calling 770-985-3580. Alternatively, a wealth of information is readily available online for those who prefer to browse through the center's offerings at their own pace.
