A 58-year-old Dallas, Georgia man died three days after a three-vehicle crash in Acworth that he initially walked away from, refusing treatment at the scene before his condition apparently worsened. Adren Mathna was driving a black 2026 Ford F-150 eastbound on Lake Acworth Drive on Oct. 26, just before 6:30 a.m., when another driver pulled into his path at the intersection with Kemp Ridge Road.

According to WSB-TV, police said the crash happened after a driver stopped at a stop sign and failed to yield before entering oncoming traffic. Investigators identified that driver as 45-year-old Daryl Cooke, also of Dallas, who was heading north on Kemp Ridge Road in a blue 2021 Toyota Camry. Police said Cooke stopped at the sign, then tried to cross Lake Acworth Drive and pulled directly into the path of Mathna's oncoming truck, with the front of the Toyota striking the right side of the Ford.

A third vehicle was also caught up in the collision. A black 2025 Hyundai Elantra driven by 38-year-old Ashlee Warwick of Kernersville, North Carolina, was stopped in the westbound left-turn lane on Lake Acworth Drive when the crash happened nearby. Neither Cooke nor Warwick was hurt, the station's report notes.

A Delayed Collapse After Refusing Treatment

Mathna initially refused medical treatment at the scene, per the same account. Three days later, on Oct. 29, he died — a detail that leaves open questions about what happened in between, though the available reporting does not explain why he declined care or what ultimately caused his death.

The Cobb County Police Department is assisting the Acworth Police Department with the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the crash to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.

Remembered as a Longtime Choate Construction Employee

Mathna's obituary, published by Benson Funeral Home via Legacy.com, identifies him as Adren Brent Mathna of Dallas, Georgia, and notes he joined Choate Construction Company in August 1997. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Mathna, daughter Adrianna Cartee and her husband Christian Cartee, and son Jackson Mathna.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. at Benson Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at noon, according to the obituary. In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that donations be made to Paulding Enterprises, which serves adults with special needs, or to the Paulding Animal Shelter.
