Residents of Streeterville and Gold Coast are on high alert after a series of armed robberies were reported in their neighborhoods. According to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department, multiple individuals have recently fallen victim to thefts at gunpoint. The incidents occurred early in the morning of December 21, 2025, with the first taking place on the 200 block of E. Chicago at 6:46 a.m. and the second just minutes later on the 0-100 block of E. Cedar at 6:52 a.m.
The description provided by the authorities indicates that the suspects are three to four African American males, aged between 20 and 30, who were seen wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks. After confronting and robbing the victims, these individuals were observed getting into a waiting vehicle before fleeing the scene. The police urge locals to always be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
In order to aid in possibly identifying the perpetrators, the Chicago Police suggest noting any unique physical characteristics such as scars, limps, or tattoos, and to never pursue a fleeing assailant. Instead, witnesses should remain calm, recall as much information as possible, and immediately dial 9-1-1. Moreover, if video surveillance is accessible, saving a copy for detectives could be crucial, and if approached by witnesses, requesting their contact information is encouraged for future investigative purposes.
This notice comes at an anxious time for neighborhood residents, as the holiday season typically sees an uptick in foot traffic and, consequently, sometimes an increase in crime. The community is being reminded by the authorities that it's important to remain vigilant and not to hesitate in contacting the police. Those with information on the robberies can contribute to the safety of their streets by remaining on the scene when possible and ensuring that a detailed account is provided to law enforcement.
