
A tragic incident claimed the life of a female pedestrian on Brick Church Pike last Saturday night. A Nissan Versa, operated by a 17-year-old without a license and insurance, struck the woman purportedly standing in the middle of the road. As per reports obtained by the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, the teen attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.
After the impact, the teen driver left the scene, returned home, and recounted the incident to his parents. Consequently, his parents contacted the authorities. The young driver now faces various charges, including leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, driving without a license and insurance, and failure to report an accident, according to Nashville Metro Police Department's report.
In a separate but related report, a 25-year-old driving a Ford Fusion believed he had swerved to miss a mattress on the same road and only hit a pothole, only to discover later the body of the woman trapped under his vehicle. Upon making the grim discovery, he promptly informed dispatch. Investigators found no signs of impairment on his part at the time of the incident.
The Medical Examiner's Office is undertaking efforts to verify the identity of the deceased. The investigation is ongoing, as the details surrounding her presence on the road, and such a heartrending sequence of events come to light.
