Authorities in Vancouver have apprehended a 21-year-old man in response to an assault on a female jogger that occurred in late October. Nathan Howard Allen was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his residence, where an orange BMX-style bicycle and additional evidence were located, KPTV reported. Allen is facing charges of indecent liberties and unlawful imprisonment, with possible additional charges for fourth-degree assault and two counts of indecent exposure under consideration.
On the morning of Oct. 26, the victim was jogging in the Ellsworth Springs neighborhood when the assailant, later identified as Allen, reportedly approached her from behind while riding his bicycle. The Vancouver Police Department stated that the woman fought off her attacker, who grabbed her genital area and pushed her, causing her to fall and hit her head, sustaining a minor injury. After the struggle, the man fled on his bicycle, according to KOIN 6 News.
This incident has raised concerns within the community about safety for individuals engaging in routine activities, such as jogging early in the morning. Surveillance footage from the area played a crucial role in helping authorities track down the suspect. Details regarding how exactly Allen was connected to the case, however, were not disclosed by investigators, as mentioned in a statement obtained by KATU.
