The White Pine Police Department recently hosted a "Shop with a Cop" event, aimed to foster goodwill and community relationships. On a day designed to be memorable, eight students from White Pine School were treated to a ride in a police car, brand-new shoes from Shoe Sensation in Jefferson City, and a shopping spree for toys at a local Walmart. Concluding the day, officers and students shared a meal at Pizza Plus back in White Pine.
According to a social media post by the department, the initiative intended to create a meaningful experience for the youth and to display the department's dedication to community policing. The post indicated the event's success, stating "Seeing the smiles on these kids’ faces is what community policing is all about."
The "Shop with a Cop" program could not have gone ahead without the support from local businesses and individuals. The White Pine Police Department expressed gratitude towards Shoe Sensation and Walmart for the goods provided, Pizza Plus for hosting the lunch, and to Sandvik Corporation and ProTeam Auction for their contributions.
