A pedestrian collision in the College East neighborhood has left a 26-year-old woman with serious injuries. The incident occurred yesterday near 6500 Montezuma Road, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The woman, who was crossing mid-block was struck by an eastbound Honda Accord driven by a 28-year-old male, causing her to suffer significant trauma including a fractured hip, a pelvic fracture, and other injuries; her condition, however, is not considered life-threatening, the intersection where the collision took place is known to be busy which might have contributed to the driver not seeing the pedestrian in time despite the usual bustle of the area.
Officer J. Perales, who served as Watch Commander, noted that the Traffic Division will assume the investigation responsibilities. City residents, particularly those who may have witnessed the incident or possess any information, are urged to contact the department or use the Crime Stoppers line to provide anonymous tips.
