An 81-year-old woman, Susan Schaufeld, died after being involved in a collision with a garbage truck in the PGA National community of Palm Beach Gardens. The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Ryder Cup Boulevard and Glencairn Road, as reported by WPBF.
Officers arriving at the scene found Schaufeld on the ground with severe injuries and provided immediate medical attention. CBS12 reported that the Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue team transported her to St. Mary’s Medical Center in critical condition.
Police identified the driver involved in the collision as Unseul Andre, who was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Officials reported yesterday that Schaufeld died from her injuries, according to WPBF. Her family has been notified.
