Antioch Police have seemingly cracked a case straight out of a holiday nightmare where a family had their puppy stolen while shopping. Last Friday afternoon, a family visited a Target store in Antioch with their 10-week-old Yorkshire Terrier named Tinkerbell. Here, they were approached by two individuals who would soon, brazenly, snatch the puppy and take off in a getaway car, according to an official press release issued by the Antioch Police Department and obtained by SFist.
The Antioch Police Department, under the guidance of Officer Kawalya, immediately launched an investigation into the ordeal, uncovering that the young dog was a Christmas gift for the family's three-year-old daughter. This saga of pet larceny swiftly progressed when police identified a suspect vehicle along with two individuals, Isiah Kingstringer and Zoie Ledesma, linked to the crime. "During a follow-up interview, Officer Kawalya determined the location of the puppy," the Antioch Police Department detailed, which led to the safe return of Tinkerbell to her family.
It was last Saturday that a vigilant Antioch Police Department officer spotted the suspect vehicle, conducting a traffic stop and towing the car as part of the burgeoning investigation. Further twists unraveled when Kingstringer and Ledesma arrived at the Antioch Police lobby attempting to retrieve their impounded car, only to find themselves arrested on outstanding warrants tied to the theft incident.
Both suspects were booked into Contra Costa County Jail, facing a litany of charges, including "Grand theft of an animal," "Theft by false pretenses," and "Conspiracy," according to the department's announcement. The Antioch Police Department continues to actively and thoroughly investigate the case and encourages anyone with further details to come forward, ensuring the criminal case can be completely resolved.
