
The Broward Sheriff's Office is actively conducting a search operation in response to a report of a possible kidnapping attempt in Weston. According to city officials, the incident occurred near the intersection of Bonaventure Boulevard, and Sagemont Way, in the vicinity of the private institution, Sagemont Preparatory School. Details were shared by Local 10 News, stating that authorities are on the lookout for a dark blue minivan, potentially a Honda or Hyundai model being operated by a "masked and hooded" male.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office amplifies its efforts to apprehend the individual connected to the incident. The school principal, Mellesia Nelson, sent out a communiqué to parents explaining, "there is no threat to the campus, and that no student or staff member was harmed," as reported by NBC 6 Miami. The reassurance comes amidst heightened concerns, for the safety of students and residents alike.
Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and have requested that sightings of the vehicle, or any related suspicious activity, be reported immediately to law enforcement by dialing 911.
While NBC 6 has reached out to Broward County Public Schools, for additional information, there has not yet been a public response. Meanwhile, the investigation remains active and ongoing, with law enforcement personnel gathering evidence and pursuing leads to ascertain the full scope of the event, and prevent any harm from befalling the young individuals of our community.
