On Monday morning, Chicago Police Department officers apprehended Deshawn Neal, a 42-year-old man from the 400 block of Rice Ave., Bellwood, Illinois. Neal stands accused of a grievous act — the attempted first-degree murder of a 36-year-old woman, as reported by the CPD. His detention hearing is set for today at the courthouse on 2600 S. California.
With the precision of a force well-acquainted with violence, officers located and arrested Neal at 8:28 a.m. in the 4100 block of W. 21st Street. According to a Chicago Police Department release, he was identified as the individual responsible for the shooting that occurred on January 21, which wounded the victim in the 3900 block of W. Iowa St., situated in the 11th District.
A single felony count of attempted murder in the first degree has been charged against Neal. The nature of the crime suggests a grim tale of intent; however, the Chicago Police Department has not provided further details on the motives or circumstances leading up to the incident.
