A 65-year-old man from the Bronx was arrested this week on allegations of selling counterfeit playoff tickets, a scheme that reportedly resulted in a $5,000 loss for one woman. Eddie Hudson faces grand theft charges after being identified by fans and taken into custody outside Hard Rock Stadium, according to Local 10. The woman had intended to attend a playoff game between Miami and Indiana but was allegedly given fraudulent tickets.

Authorities said the incident occurred yesterday when Hudson allegedly offered tickets to the College Football Playoff National Championship game and agreed to sell them to the victim. The victim transferred the money electronically but reportedly received only an image of a counterfeit ticket. Hudson attempted to leave the area, but the victim discovered the tickets were invalid while trying to verify them through Ticketmaster and notified nearby fans and an off-duty deputy, who then detained him.

An arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office states that Hudson allegedly remained in the crowd at the venue after providing the counterfeit tickets. After his arrest, his bond was set at $2,500. NBC Miami reported that the victim was trying to purchase tickets to the game when Hudson and another unidentified individual approached her with an offer that later led to the grand theft charge.

Hudson is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as the case proceeds.
