Georgia Sen. Jason T. Dickerson, a Republican representing Canton and the 21st Senate District, has announced new committee assignments for the legislative session. Dickerson, a first-term senator, will serve as secretary of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee. He was also appointed as an ex officio member of the Government Oversight Committee and the Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security Committee, according to Georgia State Senate Press Office.
Dickerson said the assignments will allow him to focus on issues affecting residents of his district. He thanked Lt. Gov. Burt Jones for the appointments.
Prior to his election, Dickerson founded Quest Trucking and later led Purple Chip Capital Management. He is also involved in the Jason T. Dickerson Family Foundation, which supports initiatives benefiting seniors, students, veterans, and animals in Cherokee County, where he resides.
