The Chicago Police Department announced the arrest of 20-year-old Brian Pride, a resident of the 200 block of S. Central Park Blvd., who now faces multiple felony charges for a series of armed robberies and burglaries. As reported by the CPD, the Citywide Robbery Task Force was able to place him into custody on January 17, after he was identified as one of the individuals involved in the criminal activities that occurred earlier this month.
According to the Chicago Police Department's official statement, Pride is facing three counts of robbery, armed with a firearm, and two counts of burglary. His detention hearing was scheduled for January 18 at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. During the series of crimes on January 3, reports suggest Pride managed to forcibly take property from several individuals and businesses at gunpoint or by breaking in.
The incidents in question spanned multiple locations and saw victims ranging in age from 35 to 52. Notably, a 35-year-old female was robbed at gunpoint on the 2300 block of W. Chicago Ave. Attached to this is an instance where Pride allegedly robbed a 40-year-old male and a 52-year-old male at a business on the 3000 block of N. Ashland Ave. Furthermore, burglaries occurred at businesses located on the 2600 block of N. Lincoln Ave. and the 3100 block of N. Broadway, where Pride reportedly took property and proceeds.
Law enforcement officials have emphasized the importance of the collaborations within the Citywide Robbery Task Force, allowing them to quickly respond and bring suspects like Pride into custody. Pride's connection to the crimes was established through evidence and witness identification, facilitating his arrest. The Chicago Police Department has not disclosed any additional information pending the ongoing investigation.
