The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert following a strong-arm robbery on the CTA Redline train in Englewood, a bulletin on the department's official website reports. The robbery, which occurred on the evening of December 19, involved three suspects accosting a citizen within the confines of the 007th District. Details provided by the CPD state that the crime took place on the 200 block of West 63rd St at approximately 6:40 pm.
Authorities have released descriptions of the alleged perpetrators who participated in the incident: two African American males, one sporting a maroon sweater beneath a black jacket and white shoes, the other clad in a surgical mask paired with a black jacket and black pants, and a female African American wearing a coordinated black jacket and pants with distinctive red shoes, according to the CPD news release. The police are urging residents and transit users to stay vigilant, to take note of their immediate surroundings, and to never engage with potential assailants.
To reduce the risk of falling victim to such crimes, the community alert advises the public to keep track of their specific location, including bus or train car numbers, as well as route details, and the direction in which they're traveling, additionally, they recommend pressing the emergency button and informing the Transit Attendant if necessary, and in the event of an incident, individuals should call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the location and the assailant(s).
