Chicago Police have issued a community alert following a violent robbery on the CTA Red Line earlier this month. The incident, which involved a young woman being aggressively battered and robbed, occurred in the Loop area on the evening of January 5.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the attacker is described as an African American female, believed to be between the ages of 17 and 22. Details on the suspect's height and weight were not immediately available. The victim, riding the CTA Red Line at approximately 10:10 p.m., was forcibly robbed of her personal belongings in a sudden and confrontational manner.
The specific location of the crime was identified as the 0-100 block of S. State St. Police are actively seeking information and have circulated a notice to residents and commuters to be vigilant of their surroundings, especially while traveling on public transportation.
In response to the robbery, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and help in apprehending the suspect. "Always be aware of your surroundings," the Chicago Police Department stated, advising people not try to personally chase any fleeing assailants should an incident arise.
