The Chicago Police Department has issued a missing person alert for 41-year-old Jessica Reed, who was reported missing from the 200 block of W. Division, according to a recent statement released by authorities. Reed was last seen on January 21st, and concerns for her well-being are amplified by the fact that she has a developmental disability with a limited vocabulary, potentially making it more challenging for her to seek or find help.
Reed is described as a 5'5" tall Black female, weighing 115 lbs, with brown eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion. Notably, she was last seen wearing a distinct combination of clothes: a knitted white hat, a black plaid oversized coat, black jeans, blue and white Nike Dunks, and red eyeglasses. In a city as vast as Chicago, details such as these are essential to possibly narrow down and effectively hasten any searches to safely locate her. Residents and commuters are encouraged to keep an eye out and to swiftly report any sightings.
The search for Jessica is ongoing, with the Area One SVU taking the lead. The public is urged to be vigilant and to come forward with any information that could aid in her return. Given Jessica's vulnerability due to her developmental condition, understanding her as more than just another statistic is vital. She is a member of our community, one amongst us who has family and friends in desperate hope of her safe return.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to please contact the Area One SVU at 312-747-8380 or to simply call 911.
