The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is on high alert as they conduct an intensive manhunt for a 16-year-old suspect deemed “armed and dangerous.” Lequan Stephens, the teenager in question, has been implicated in a series of violent acts, including a shooting that recently left one individual with serious facial injuries. According to Atlanta News First, the Sheriff’s Office has disclosed that the search is related to an incident over the weekend where Stephens allegedly shot someone in the face while they were inside a car. The victim was reportedly rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.
Beyond this incident, Stephens is also wanted for another occurrence in August 2025, where he supposedly fired shots at a residence, fortunately not resulting in any injuries. The charges laid against him include aggravated assault and criminal damage to property, with the possibility of additional felony charges being added, "If you see Stephens, do not approach him," the Sheriff’s Office warned in a statement published on Facebook, urging anyone who spots him to contact 911 immediately, as per Fox5 Atlanta.
Further details about these accusations, however, have not been fully disclosed by Sheriff Levon Allen. Fox5 Atlanta notes that while specific aspects of the assault Stephens is wanted for remain unspecified, and the additional pending charges have not been articulated, the Sheriff’s Office has nevertheless issued a public safety notification due to the suspect’s considered risk to the community.
The activation of Clayton County’s Fugitive Squad underscores the serious nature of this manhunt. This elite unit specializes in tracking down suspects of high priority, who pose a significant threat to safety.
