In an incident that highlights ongoing issues with recidivism, Shamon Foley, a 42-year-old convicted felon, was arrested again in East Nashville. According to a press release from the Metro Nashville Police Department, Foley was taken into custody Saturday night after officers discovered narcotics and a loaded gun in his Ford Expedition at a gas station on Dickerson Pike. He had previously been released on a $61,000 bond following his December 4 arrest.
During the Saturday incident, officers, while on a routine patrol, observed in Foley's vehicle which was a marijuana presence and conducted a search. They subsequently found cocaine, heroin, Hydromorphone pills, Gabapentin pills, and a loaded handgun. On eight more charges related to drugs and weapons, Foley now faces a $100,500 bond and remains in Metro Jail. His most recent arrest came less than a month after he was arrested in December on similar charges.
Foley's December arrest stemmed from traffic violations in the same Ford Expedition on Shelby Avenue. Metro Nashville Police TITANS Unit detectives charged Foley with eight drug and weapons-related charges, which led to his initial bond. The repeat nature of the offenses has sparked conversations about the effectiveness of the current justice system in preventing re-offenses and the challenges of managing repeat offenders, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Authorities said Foley, a convicted felon, was taken into custody after illegal substances and firearms were seized, allegedly violating the conditions of his bond. Officials noted that the case remains under investigation. The arrest comes amid ongoing public safety concerns in East Nashville, where residents continue to monitor developments related to the incident.
