Patrick Clancy is waging a legal battle against the medical professionals who treated his wife, Lindsay Clancy, prior to the tragic deaths of their three children at their Duxbury home in January 2023. Yesterday, Clancy filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Norfolk Superior Court, naming psychiatrist Jennifer A. Tufts, certified nurse practitioner Rebecca H. Jollotta, as well as Aster Mental Health and South Shore Health System as defendants. This action follows the grave event in which Lindsay Clancy is accused of strangling their children with exercise bands, a statement obtained by NBC Boston described.

The crux of the lawsuit alleges negligent care, where the medical providers exacerbated Lindsay's mental health issues through what Patrick Clancy describes as a "bevy of diverse and powerful medications they misprescribed coupled with their abject failure to appropriately monitor Lindsay," as noted by NBC Boston. Accused of being negligent, the doctors' oversight is claimed to have allowed Lindsay's state to erode to the point of suicidal ideation and committing the subsequent alleged murders, as reported by The Boston Globe.

Lindsay's mental health decline began during her 18-week maternity leave, starting psychiatric treatment for increasing anxiety and sleep deprivation in September 2022, seeking assistance from Dr. Tufts and nurse Jollotta. A cocktail of medications was prescribed over the following months, including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and antipsychotics. Despite reporting feelings of disorientation, forgetfulness, and a disconnection from her body to her medical providers, the treatment proceeded without significant alteration. According to the lawsuit, by December she was having intrusive thoughts about death and sought emergency intervention multiple times, to no avail.

In early January 2023, Lindsay sought psychiatric treatment at McLean Hospital for four days due to suicidal ideation. However, the follow-up appointments were brief, lasting no longer than 17 minutes. On January 24, the day of the killings, Lindsay reportedly "started hearing a compelling and unrecognizable singular male voice" that pushed her toward committing the final act. After the event, she was left paralyzed from the chest down following attempts at self-harm, as per a report by The Boston Globe.

Lindsay Clancy's legal representation continues to prepare for her imminent trial, scheduled for July this year. Their defense leans on an insanity plea, emphasizing the role of medical mismanagement in the lead-up to the tragedy. Patrick Clancy demands a jury trial and is seeking a minimum of $1 million in damages for the loss and suffering caused by what he claims to be an utter failure of medical oversight, as per the details stated in the lawsuit.
