
Tragedy struck at an intersection in San José, leaving the community to deal with the aftermath of a fatal traffic collision that claimed the life of an electric bicyclist. On December 16, 2025, a Lexus sedan and an electric bicycle were involved in a crash at the corner of North First Street and East Brokaw Road. The San José Police Department (SJPD) responded to the incident around 11:01 AM.
The details, provided by the SJPD, indicate that the Lexus, driven by an adult male, had the green light when it proceeded through the intersection, striking the southbound bicyclist. The bicyclist was then rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the adult male cyclist, whose identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner, succumbed to his injuries last Friday.
In a recent update, as of today, the Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives of SJPD were notified of the bicyclist's death, making this collision the city's 38th fatal one of the year and bringing the tally of traffic fatalities to 39 for 2025. The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with the ongoing investigation, according to SJPD's announcement.
