Earlier today, a fire broke out in an upstairs apartment within the Maddux Court Apartment Building in Algood, Tennessee, requiring a multi-agency response. Algood Fire & Rescue arrived on scene to discover heavy fire conditions with flames emerging from the front of the building and spreading into the upstairs breezeway. According to a social media post by the Algood Fire Department, firefighting teams swiftly initiated an attack to suppress the fire and to shield the neighboring apartments from further damage.
The severity of the blaze prompted assistance from the Cookeville City Fire Department, which provided a ladder truck due to the structure's height, and the ventilation hazards it presented. Algood Fire & Rescue expressed gratitude for their support, in addition to aid from Putnam County Fire, who provided a rehabilitation unit for personnel actively engaged at the scene. Whilst the blaze was largely contained to the origin apartment, several others suffered smoke and water damage, with one apartment enduring light fire damage.
Fortunately, only one resident required treatment at the scene and was subsequently released. In the shared details, there were no injuries reported among the firefighters present. Putnam County EMS played a vital role, offering medical support throughout the emergency. In the aftermath, the American Red Cross arrived to lend assistance to those residents who found themselves displaced by the hostile flames, and On Scene Emergency Services contributed to securing the building and helping affected individuals.
