The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the death of 35-year-old Clinton Wayne Scarboro of Uvalda. Scarboro was found dead inside a residence on Middle Road in Collins, Georgia, after GBI agents went to execute an arrest warrant from Emanuel County, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation release.

On Thursday, GBI’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) used a PA system to request Scarboro’s surrender. A woman at the home confirmed he was inside. After attempts to make contact were unsuccessful, agents deployed pepper-based chemicals and used a robot to check the interior. The robot revealed Scarboro with a gunshot wound and a firearm.

Scarboro was taken by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body will be sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler for an autopsy.

The investigation’s findings will be forwarded to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
