The Georgia Senate has begun its legislative session with a focus on policy priorities and fiscal measures. Senator Larry Walker, representing the 20th Senate District, is serving as President Pro Tempore. Walker and the Senate Majority Caucus have outlined an agenda that includes tax cuts, reducing bureaucracy, and addressing rising living costs.
According to the Georgia State Senate Press Office, the Republican majority is considering income and property tax reductions and discussing long-term measures for public safety, infrastructure, and the environment. Education and childcare are also part of the session’s discussions.
The Senate agenda aligns with Governor Brian P. Kemp’s State of the State Address, which emphasized expanding access to postsecondary education, healthcare education, and medical residencies, particularly in Middle Georgia.
Walker stated that Senate Republicans aim to create practical solutions for affordability and stability for families. The session will address a range of priorities, with the Senate working to implement policies supporting economic growth and opportunity in Georgia.
