Georgia State Senator Randy Robertson is calling on Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to comply with a U.S. Department of Justice request for voter registration records.
According to the Georgia State Senate Press Office, Robertson, the Senate Majority Whip, is backing a resolution, SR 563, that urges the Secretary of State’s office to provide the requested information to federal investigators. The resolution has been assigned to the Senate Committee on Ethics and is awaiting consideration.
In a public statement, Robertson said he believes state officials should cooperate with investigations and emphasized the importance of examining any potential wrongdoing. He cited his law enforcement background in support of the call for compliance.
The proposal has drawn mixed reactions, with supporters saying it would promote transparency and critics expressing concern about the scope of federal involvement. The outcome of the resolution could affect how Georgia state officials respond to future federal requests related to voter registration records.
