After Monday's meeting, it's all systems go for the construction of the global coffeehouse chain's latest location at 2055 Exeter Road. The new addition boasts not only your standard Starbucks fare but a drive-through service tailored to cater to the area's vehicle-owning caffeine aficionados.
The latest update, as reported by Germantown's official website, states that the approved venue will pepper the shopping center's landscape with a 2,450-square-foot building complete with indoor and outdoor seating options. Moreover, lovers of lattes and frappes can look forward to zipping quickly in and out of the drive-through that's designed to efficiently accommodate the site's traffic.
This Starbucks outpost isn't just about serving up cups of joe and the odd cake pop. It appears to be a piece in a larger puzzle, with the Exeter Village Shopping Center, earliest known as Farmington Shopping Center and part of Germantown's fabric since 1985, undergoing a revitalization in sync with the City’s Urban Center zoning standards. These standards are in favor of promoting spaces that people can easily walk to and are pleasing to the eye and functional in design.
According to the timeline of events laid out by the same source, this project cleared its path through the usual bureaucratic checkpoints earlier this year, successfully securing site plan, building design, and landscaping approvals from both the Planning Commission and Design Review Commission. With the final plan sanctioned by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in April, the setup can now begin to materialize on its designated 0.87 acres situated snugly between Piccadilly and Firestone Complete Auto Care.
