Gilbert has begun Phase II of Desert Sky Park, with the official groundbreaking taking place on Thursday. The construction, expected to finish in about two years, will add five new multi-use fields to meet the community’s growing need for recreational spaces, according to the Town of Gilbert.
Town officials, parks staff, and project teams gathered to celebrate the launch, keeping the ceremony low-key. The development reflects Gilbert’s focus on enhancing outdoor recreation while maintaining an understated approach to community growth, as reported by the Town of Gilbert.
Phase II of the park will add new playground equipment, a splash pad, eight pickleball courts, and a new point of entry for better access. "Phase II will significantly expand the number of playable fields, and with that expansion comes new possibilities for youth sports that teach discipline, teamwork, and resilience," said Brian Cannon, Chair of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, as stated by the Town of Gilbert.
