Commuters in Jefferson Parish, take note: roadwork is scheduled to affect your drive on LA 3017 Southbound starting this week. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced a lane closure on Peters Rd. for two separate days due to road maintenance activities.
The first closure is set for January 15, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, stretching from 8th St. to the US 90Z Frontage Rd. Motorists should prep for possible delays, although with the road remaining open, traffic will continue to flow, albeit at a potentially slower pace, according to the official announcement.
Just a few days later, on January 20, drivers will face a similar situation. Lane closure on LA 3017 Southbound will take effect once more, during the same hours as the previous one, and encompass the same stretch of road with the start and end points being 8th St. and the US 90Z Frontage Rd. respectively.
Both closures, scheduled on midweek mornings, are likely planned to minimize disruption outside of peak commuting times but are nevertheless bound to introduce some inconvenience to day-to-day travel. Weather permitting, the closures will commence as planned and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes or allow for extra travel time. Delays can be expected as traffic merges into the open lanes alongside the ongoing flagging operation. The DOTD's press release urges travelers to drive with caution through the construction zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
