At Wednesday's City Council meeting, Lawton recognized employees and community members for their efforts in maintaining clean streets and public spaces. Members of the Stormwater and Solid Waste Divisions were acknowledged for their work during the November 15 Community Cleanout, where they collected 4,000 pounds more debris than the previous year, according to a City of Lawton statement. Employees recognized included Micheal Hawkins, Danny Hamblin, and Antonio Chavez.
The community group Ellipsis also received the City of Lawton Clean Sweep Award. Represented by Jocelyn Wood, Ellipsis maintains regular litter collection along NW 38th Street and NW 67th Street, helping to keep public spaces clean and safe.
