A 25-year-old Miami-Dade man has been charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of his roommate at a local independent living facility. Geo Manuel Alfonso also faces charges for battery on a law enforcement officer after a violent confrontation with deputies responding to the scene, according to Local 10 News. The incident took place on November 6, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., sending shockwaves through the community.
When they arrived, deputies had to forcefully work to subdue Alfonso, who tried to block entrance and punched a deputy before being tasered and detained. The confrontation escalated swiftly as Alfonso, apparently resisting with defiant fervor, was taken into custody outside the facility located in the 15000 block of Northeast Fifth Court, according to WSVN.
Once inside the residence, authorities found Alfonso's roommate with critical injuries from two stab wounds to the chest. The victim was able to make statements pointing at Alfonso as the attacker before succumbing to his injuries at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, pronounced dead at 8:51 p.m. that evening. Surveillance footage from the facility played a key role, as it captured the victim descending stairs in a blood-stained garment, imploring his roommate for assistance, his voice a grim testament to the violent encounter with Alfonso, who was later seen with the weapon and attempting to clean the bloody scene, reports from both WSVN and Local 10 News state.
An autopsy by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the cause of death as sharp force injuries to the torso. Meanwhile, a witness claimed Alfonso delivered the fatal wounds to the victim while in bed, without any apparent provocation. While a motive for the stabbing remains to be thoroughly established, Alfonso invoked his right to an attorney during police questioning and continues to be held at the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center, pending bond set, according to further details from Local 10 News.
