The shooting occurred following a carjacking by three armed males on November 3, 2025. The suspects, Stephan Jones and Tyquawn Davis, both 18, and King Gage, 16, fled in the stolen vehicle before abandoning it and attempting to escape on foot.
A Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) deputy engaged in a foot pursuit subsequent to the halted carjacking, during which one suspect, armed with an assault rifle, was shot. The officer provided lifesaving aid until paramedics arrived. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation, and no community members or deputies sustained injuries, according to the press release.
