She was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she remains listed in critical condition.
Shooting reported by police and local TV
Chicago police say the shooter was inside a passing vehicle that fired toward the sidewalk before taking off. As reported by FOX 32 Chicago, investigators have not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle, and no arrests have been made. The station notes that its information comes from the Chicago Police Department.
Citywide context
Gun violence remains a stubborn public-safety problem in Chicago, even as some overall numbers have shifted in recent months. The University of Chicago Crime Lab tracks shootings in near real time, showing persistent hot spots on the West and South sides. Those maps help explain why detectives move quickly to gather footage and witness accounts after incidents like this; researchers and community groups say even a single high-harm shooting can rattle a neighborhood long after the crime scene tape comes down.
What investigators say and next steps
Area detectives are investigating and canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance video and witnesses. As FOX 32 Chicago reported, authorities have not announced any arrests and have not released additional identifying details about the suspect or vehicle. We will update this post if Chicago police or city officials provide new information.
