Although the numbers show progress, Governor Kehoe reminded residents that "every person, every life lost, is a family forever changed," urging them to take simple yet effective measures such as buckling up, avoiding phone use while driving, and slowing down in work zones, those efforts propelled by the people of Missouri who adhered to safe driving practices and an undertaking that saw a combined initiative between everyday citizens and safety partners, reversed a concerning rise in fatalities midway through the year, as per the MoDOT.
As part of this push for safety, the Missouri Department of Transportation is launching an update to the Show-Me Zero plan, which lays out a comprehensive strategy focusing on education, enforcement, engineering, and emergency response, to tackle the persisting issue of roadway casualties. MoDOT Director Ed Hassinger emphasized the collective effort, stating, "That kind of change doesn't happen by chance – it happens because speaking up about safety works."
