A Murfreesboro man faces serious charges after a Rutherford County Grand Jury indicted him for allegedly embezzling nearly $200,000 from a nonprofit organization. David Ross, 57, surrendered himself to authorities and is now charged with theft of property under $250,000 and identity theft. According to a post by the Murfreesboro TN Police Department, the nonprofit's founder reported suspicions of embezzlement to law enforcement in May of 2025, which triggered an in-depth investigation.

The thefts, which are said to have begun in 2022, were discovered after Ross reportedly made unauthorized payments to a pair personal credit cards and carried out fraudulent purchases using the nonprofit’s bank accounts. Ross, who had been working part time with the nonprofit, turned himself in following the grand jury's decision.

After booking by the local authorities, he was released on a $25,000 bond. The case will see its next day in court with a hearing set for February 17 in the Rutherford County General Sessions Court.
