Two people arrested in a December shooting in Nashville have been released on bond. Trequan Guinn, 34, and Deandra Nelson, 31, were arrested Monday and posted bonds of $15,000 and $10,000, respectively, according to Nashville.gov. The December 16 shooting on 25th Avenue North left a 69-year-old man critically wounded and a 46-year-old man with a foot injury.
According to Nashville Police, the shooting occurred after the victims mistakenly tried to damage Nelson's car, thinking it was a stolen Hyundai Sonata. Nelson allegedly exited his vehicle and fired at both men, while Guinn, nearby, joined in. Both suspects later admitted their involvement during interviews with detectives.
Guinn faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, illegal firearm possession due to a prior domestic violence conviction, and using a weapon during a felony. Nelson faces attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, and firearm use during a felony. The charges stem from the December 16 incident in which a misidentified car led to a shooting that left one man critically injured.
TITANS Unit detectives arrested the suspects at Hamilton Creek Apartments, where they found two pistols in the vehicle. Both admitted to participating in the shooting, according to the Nashville Police Department. Their release on bond has sparked public discussion about pretrial decisions for violent offenders.
