
On New Year's Day, a serious injury collision occurred on Ocean View Boulevard in the Mountain View neighborhood, leaving three people injured, one with life-threatening injuries. According to the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander's log, a 33-year-old male driving a Volkswagen Passat westbound on 3800 Ocean View Boulevard veered into the eastbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a Kia Soul operated by a 61-year-old woman.
The accident, which took place at approximately 7:37 PM, resulted in a 63-year-old female passenger in the Kia suffering from a broken femur, while the driver sustained a leg injury that has yet to be confirmed. The male driver of the Volkswagen was reported to have sustained internal injuries considered life-threatening. Officer J. Perales, the watch commander, stated that alcohol was a factor in this collision.
Following the incident, the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division assumed responsibility for the investigation.
