A boating mishap off the coast of Oceanside Harbor led to a swift and successful rescue by Oceanside Lifeguards this past Thursday. According to a social media post by Oceanside Lifeguards, a 15-foot vessel was turned topsy-turvy by the treacherous waters near the mouth of the harbor, prompting a rapid response from the lifeguard team. The incident, which left both occupants in a perilous situation, was reported at around 1:27 PM.

In a display of choreographed emergency response, the lifeguard team managed to quickly locate and then secure the two boaters within minutes of the alarm being raised. This rapid operational efficiency can be traced to the immediate action of a lifeguard from the open harbor tower, as well as the coordinated involvement of 10 personnel on the scene, including additional units, a rescue boat, a personal watercraft, and a supervising officer.

Both individuals involved in the incident were brought safely back to the Patrol Dock. One of the rescued was fortuitously unharmed, while the other sustained injuries and required transportation to Scripps La Jolla by Oceanside Fire Department paramedics. The condition of the injured party has not been disclosed.

Subsequently, the capsized boat found itself wrested from the rocks and returned to its owner around 3:06 PM by a commercial salvage company.
