A fatal traffic incident occurred in Boca Raton when a Porsche 911 left the roadway and entered a drainage canal, resulting in one death and leaving another individual critically injured. According to CBS12, the crash happened yesterday as Jeffrey Kay, a 59-year-old Boca Raton resident, was traveling southbound on SR 7 from Saturnia Boulevard.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that Kay’s vehicle struck a median and a palm tree before crossing the opposing lanes and breaking through a guardrail, ultimately entering the drainage canal, as detailed by WPBF. A bystander assisted in rescuing both Kay and his passenger, Timothy Wilson, a 66-year-old from Phoenix, from the submerged vehicle.
Emergency services transported both men to Delray Medical Center. Kay later died from his injuries, while his passenger remains in critical condition. Both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The community is responding to the sudden loss resulting from the crash. CBS12 reported that authorities are continuing to investigate the cause, while the identity of the Good Samaritan who assisted in rescuing the occupants has not been released.
