On Friday evening, a perplexing incident unfolded on I-15 near the Arizona-Utah border when five vehicles collided with a piece of exercise equipment that lay strewn across the roadway. According to the Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Department, the event took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. near Mile Marker 17. Fire crews were promptly dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the aforementioned "slightly used exercise equipment," evidently the cause of the multi-vehicle accident, according to ABC4.
Despite the chaos of the collision, which involved a total of 14 people, only one individual required medical attention and was subsequently transported to St. George Regional Hospital for treatment, as reported by KUTV. The specific nature or severity of their conditions was not provided. Officials, highlighting the importance of road safety, reminded drivers to "Please drive defensively; Keep your eyes on the road," as per KUTV.
It remains unclear how the exercise equipment came to rest in such a precarious position on the highway. The situation inevitably prompts questions about the circumstances leading to the road obstruction, which managed to ensnare five vehicles in its wake. The Beaver Dam-Littlefield Fire Department has not released any additional information on the anomaly or its potential origins.
While the clean-up operation proceeded and the road was cleared for safe travel, local authorities emphasized the criticality of vigilance behind the wheel. "Please drive defensively; Keep your eyes on the road," the fire officials cautioned, in a statement that was repeated by FOX 13 following the unusual traffic hazard.
