The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office is rolling out the "Battle of the Badges Blood Drive," a countywide event throughout January, which pits local departments against each other in a friendly competition to rally blood donations. As revealed in a Facebook post by the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, community members are encouraged to donate at the upcoming special event on January 20, at the Kacmarcik Center in Grafton.
Participants can register to donate through Versiti's website, and upon donation, they choose which local agency to support—be it the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office (which, according to the post, is the preferred choice), the Village of Grafton Police Department, the Cedarburg Police Department, Cedarburg Fire Department, Thiensville Police Department, or the Mequon Police Department, the department receiving the most votes earns the Battle of the Badges title, thus spurring a sense of camaraderie and a bit of competition among the various departments and the people who support them.
The blood drive is not only a chance for law enforcement and fire departments to contend for the top honor, but also an opportunity for the community to come together in the act of giving. According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office's invitation, "Let's show up, donate, and bring this win home."
