At a recent Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Weiss recognized Robert A. Bertisch for his 45-year tenure as Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, according to a county announcement. Serving since 1980, Bertisch has led the organization in providing legal services and education to some of the county’s most vulnerable residents.
Under Bertisch’s leadership, the Legal Aid Society has grown significantly, expanding from a small initiative with an annual budget of $300,000 at the start of his tenure to a $20 million organization. According to Palm Beach County, this growth reflects both Bertisch’s long-term leadership and the organization’s increased capacity to provide services to those in need.
The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, founded in 1959, predates Bertisch’s tenure. Since becoming Executive Director, Bertisch has guided the organization in maintaining its mission to provide legal assistance and resolve essential legal issues for residents who cannot afford representation.
