A stolen vehicle incident led to a rollover crash in Peoria, Illinois, on Tuesday morning, resulting in an emergency response at a busy intersection. According to 25News Now, the crash took place at around 7:23 a.m. at Sheridan Road and Brons Avenue and involved a stolen vehicle from which three people fled upon the arrival of state troopers.
As crews worked to clear the scene, traffic was diverted for approximately one hour. While a utility vehicle was dispatched to the scene to examine and deal with potential infrastructural impacts, the circumstances surrounding how the Jeep Grand Cherokee came to rest on its roof still remain undisclosed by police, who have confirmed the vehicle's illicit status. Witnesses reported seeing individuals fleeing from the overturned vehicle, as centralillinoisproud noted, three people ran off but one person was apprehended and later required medical attention.
The Illinois State Police have not released additional details regarding the cause of the crash or the events leading up to it. However, it was confirmed that one individual involved in the crash was taken into custody while remaining inside the vehicle at the time the state troopers arrived.
